Ouroboros Peras

Weekly Report: 2026-01-16

  • Finished working on Peras 10, which implements the (pure) Peras voting rules; as well as Peras 12, which allows us to access the previous epoch nonce during block validation.

  • Met with IO researchers to discuss the main goals and limitations of the different possible committee selection schemes. In this meeting, we agreed that the best approach for Peras would be to implement weighted Fait Accompli with Local Sortition (wFA^LS), as described in this paper (with some extra tweaks).

  • Continued working on a path to instantiate BlockSupportsPeras for the Hard Fork Combinator.

  • Continued working on the math behind some of the metrics in the Peras parameterization dashboard.
